Hey musicians and singers…How do I use my computer to record my voice to music?
I’ve always loved to sing but I want to know how I would really sound recorded with music. I might even upload it to Myspace if I’m any good. So I have a Windows XP media center computer. What kind of software, microphone, cords, etc, would I need to do it right, but not too expensively? I’ve been looking at Acid Music Studio 6 and I figured I’d have to work with karaoke music since I can’t play an instrument 
. What would you recommend?
You can download Audacity for free which is an awesome recording program. Then all you need is a microphone. You can get a computer mic at a Walmart or Radioshack for about $20 and they give a pretty decent sound. Or if you have your own real mic or want to buy one, you can buy a jack for about $1-2 that allows you to plug it right into your computer’s soundcard. Just go to Bestbuy or somewhere similar and tell them you want a jack that will allow you to plug your microphone jack into your computers sound card (in the back of the tower). They should be able to help you and you’ll be recording in no time.
