Karaoke from laptop. Need to know the basics.?

I’m Asian and if you know about us then you know we love to karaoke. I just moved out to my own place and I want to set up a karaoke system but don’t know how to get started. I want somehing basic and I want it all to run from my laptop. Let’s assume I know nothing but what I do have is a laptop and a LCD tv that has every connecter on it. I just really need to know is how do I get sound from the laptop to the speakers and video to the tv. I also know I’ll need a mixer, amps ,and software but I don’t really know how to use those either so break it down for me. Thanks.

Okay, let’s get the basic first. Do you know how to the the video out to TV? If your laptop has a s-video out, you just need a s-video to RCA cable. If not you might need a VGA to composite out scan converter.

So, you’ll need a mixer and hopefully something that has reverb, echo to make it sounds better. You’ll need to get microphone.

Now, depends on what kind of karaoke songs you have. Do you have DVD karaoke? VCD Karaoke? MP3+CDG? Actually, with the software. You can play all those format. You can even set it up so you can enter the song by number and click reserved. Just like what you see in most Asian karaoke.
