Why would a .cda file play poorly on a cd+g kareoke / karaoke player?
I rented kareoke ‘CD+Gs’ from a dj company for $100 dollars. I had a big party at the house, and it turns out NONE of the cds would play on my basic CDG player. It turns out the files on the disc are NOT CDG, but .CDA. Can somebody please give me empirical evidence (reliable sources, etc) that explain why a .cda might not play in a CDG (kareoke) player?
I’m trying to get my money back from these guys. If they claimed to sell me CDGs, but they actually gave me .CDAs, then if I bought a kereoke player that plays CDG, but not CDA, then they would be liable for the misinformation and false advertising of the product.

First off, the contents of a karaoke CDG disc will read with a CDA extension just like an audio CD. Some people mistakenly think that the the song tracks should have a CDG extension. The discs you rented are definitely karaoke CDG discs. There would be absolutely no graphics otherwise.
The problems you experienced are caused by dirty or scratched CDG discs. If the company rented you discs that were not in playable condition they should owe you a refund.
