HOW TO: Setup a microphone on my home theater.?
I want to setup a microphone within my home theater system, and use it like a karaoke machine so that I can use the microphone and have any of my regular sources in the background.
Seperate volume control for mic and for background source.
Yamaha 7.1 receiver
Progressive DVD w/ component video out and fiber out for audio.
HD Sat receiver w/ component video out and fiber out for audio.
Wireless mic w/ receiver that contains a 1/4″ plug (Dont have a mic input anywhere)
Im sure there is another piece of equipment that I need to buy, but Im not sure what, and where it would plug into.
Go to your local radio shack…you will want something called a mixer. There will be RCA inputs and outputs along with the 1/4 inch microphone inputs on the back. You will plug the mic(s) into their own channels and your other source (cd/dvd player) into another channel. There will be sliders that will let you control the volume of each source. Should be less than $50…enjoy!
