Does a regular DVD player play karaoke dvds?
I would like to know if I have to buy a dvd player with karaoke capabilities, or a karaoke machine(I already have a reg. dvd player but need to know if it plays karaoke discs?) Which is cheaper, the whole machine or the dvd player and what else do I need to buy with each? Also, If the reg.(by that I mean most standard dvd players) dvd player works, am I able to buy just a microphone that hooks up to both the tv and the dvd player and then buy the karaoke music dvds or cds and have it work? Or will it just play the music and not show the lyrics on the tv screen? If I can just buy the microphone and discs seperately, what would you recommend as far as price, where to buy it(pref. online) and how well it works?
Also, is there such a thing as Karaoke discs working on a computer? If so, would it be cheaper to just get a mic that plugs and works through a computer(is there such a thing?) and then the regular karaoke discs/dvd/cds(idk what they’re called)??????
I’m in agreement with wiseguy. You can play DVD karaoke on both DVD and computer equipped with DVD player, however the fun of karaoke is the personal vocal input. This requires mic input and some level of mic control. The best way to achieve this is to buy a decent karaoke component player. When equipped with a decent amp and mixer it makes for an excellent system. I just bought the RSQ Juke box with player, amp and speaker system. A few dollars more and I had a pro mic. This is as good a system as I’ve ever used.
The problem with going cheap is it costs more in the long run. You can’t play the cdg on DVD or many of the other formats, the sound quality of a mic plumbed through the surround sound or DVD home theater will disappoint. If you’re serious about karaoke, step up and buy a decent system. You will never regret buying quality.
