X-factor audition – what to sing / wear?
I have my X-factor audition this week – I am 38 years old and slightly overweight..yes, yes I know – what am I thinking about at my age!! – still – this will be my one and only stab at it, so I am gonna go for it (husband not too impressed!).
Not sure what to wear to impress without looking over the top.
Also – what to sing – a power ballad?? My voice is in the same range as Alison Moyets. My voice seems to suit songs by male artists (George Michael, Van Morrision, Elton John etc) – but will it be weird if I sing a ‘bloke’ song?
I was thinking about Rachel Stevens ‘I said never again, but here we are’ – but wonder if this song is too ‘young’ for me – i don’t want to come across as a pop starlet wannabe has-been, but neither do I want to come across as a cruise-ship karaoke contestant. Help please!
I’m sure this is obvious, but WEAR A BRA. One that matches your top… remember that poor woman on Britain’s Got Talent? There’s nothing wrong with being stylish, I’d only advise against busy prints and brand logos. It may be worth wearing something a bit corsety underneath, though obviously not tight so you can still breathe properly, just to smooth down any bumps or rolls.
I’d say sing the blokes song if it suits your voice. It’s a little bit unusual but not downright weird, so you should be remembered for a good reason. Make sure the lyrics suit though or you could be unwittingly waving the rainbow flag. Sing a song you love!
