What is the best way to deal with impatient Karaoke singers???
I’m a KJ trying to find the best way to run a rotation in order to make sure everyone has a good time. There always seems to be someone in the crowd that has to complain because they feel they were called out of line or skipped…The thing is Not everyone in the crowd sees or hears what’s going on,and I feel I don’t have to explain all of that every time.These People get down right mean and I have been called a few choice names. I’m there for fun and for their fun but those few choice people either drunk or sober I always end up explaining to them what they might have missed…I guess what I’m asking for is how would you deal with these people? I have my way that I deal with them I’m wondering if perhaps there is a better way??? remember it is professional other wise the answer to how I would deal with them is obvious,and believe me I have been pretty matter O Fact with several…I just feel there has got to be a way better way to deal with an ungreatful group of possible future stars
Purchase some 3″ X 5″ cards and some fat permanent markers. When someone signs into your log to sing, give them a card with their number on it. Rather than call by name, call by number. The person who is to sing will then hand you their number which will correspond to your list. Since it is in your handwriting, you will surely recognize it. The cards can be reused if you laminate them.
Since you are The Boss, you should have something written up which you can hand the people who are giving you a difficult time in which you state that you have the right to deny them future participation if they have a bad attitude towards you!
