Karaoke Singing Tips
I got problem singing on pitch when I cannot hear my voice clearly.Any tips to improve?
That happens when in a loud karaoke bar. Is the hearing your own voice an important part of singing well? So is it a good practice by cover my ears and use mental concentration to focus on the right notes?
you need the feedback, as the others have already answered. This is supposed t o help us hear ourselves enough over the ambient level of other sounds ( people talking or dancing while the music is playing) as well as over the music, so that you can resist the temptation to try and sing even louder ( that’s what the mike is for)
In order to stay on pitch, i would suggest you practice by yourself ( quietly at home, if n eed be) so that you know what it does feel like and sound like when you are not in competition with all those other sounds. You’ll begin to learn how it feels when you are out of tune – some people report that they have some sort of uncomfortable feeling, either in their mouths or somewhere else in their heads, as the brain’s response to this- and you’ll learn how it feels and sounds when you are doing it right.
Acoustics teaches us about the Lombard effect- trying to speak or sing ever louder above the ambient noise to be heard- and you must find it in every karaoke bar around. Instead of going for loud, also try and imagine your voice on a laser thin beam of sound as it leaves your body, but don’t tense up your body ( throat, jaw, tongue, mouth) to make this slender beam. Just imagine it. This has a very interesting effect on the voice, and does what the image suggests- focuses the sound so that it carries farther. That, and speaking more distinctly, will help you not only stay in tune, but give your voice more projecting power.
