Are the sing star games similar to karaoke revolution american idol?
I’ve already got the American idol one, but there’s not that many songs…. it seems like there are many more versions of the sing star games, but are they any good? Does it work the same way? And do the microphones interchange?
Although SingStar is similar to other karaoke games, I find it to be more enjoyable than the others.
You have the option to go solo, head-to-head against someone (Battle Mode) or sing as a duet. With SingStar, you sing to a wide variety of music videos, and even have the option to save your performance. I’m not sure you can do this with the first SingStar, but after Rock you are able to open the PS2 disk drive and switch out to a different SingStar songlist (i.e., from Pop, 80s Rock, etc.) without restarting your game.
Each player of the game is scored based on whether or not the singing is in tune and in time with the video. Plus, some songs have a ‘Rap Meter’ that measures how staccato your singing is.
All of the SingStar games come in two varieties: the microphone versions and the ’stand-alone’ versions. Basically, you first purchase the microphone version of whatever SingStar title you want. These versions come with two microphones (a red and a blue one) that plug directly into the PS2. After you get this version, you can buy the ’stand-alone’ (and cheaper) versions of whatever other SingStar title you want.
To put it simply, SingStar rocks! The perfect party game.
