Decisions decisions…..which Greek Island to choose?
Some of the best late deals I’ve ever stumbled across have been to Greece. There are so many islands to choose from that even the pickiest of people will find a place they love and wish to return to in Greece. I’ve found that when it’s time to say goodbye and return home I actually don’t want to leave. You’ll be taken in by the warmth, the culture and the authenticity it has to offer.
There are many places to visit, from mainland Greece to the larger and smaller islands. However, when searching for late deals to Greece you will notice that the same islands crop up time and time again. The islands which repeatedly pop up on offer tend to be the larger islands which have numerous resorts and many hotels. These islands are home to some of the most beautiful resorts and can be as traditional as some of the smaller, quieter resorts if desired. You will always find one or two young and lively resorts which will either entice or dissuade you, depending on what you’re looking for. Here are a few handy tips for you to find your ideal resort in the most prominent position.
Corfu – There are many great deals which arise for Corfu, the resorts to look out for ;
Sidari – Sidari is great for couples, families and younger groups. Boasting soft, golden sands which stretch for miles and offering numerous water sports to keep everyone happy. There is also a bar street which is home to karaoke bars, cocktail bars and a few night clubs hosting foam parties and some pretty exciting nights. Sidari is a great destination if you prefer a more commercialized atmosphere. If you prefer a more traditional, Greek feel then I would advise against Sidari as it is a fairly home from home resort.
Kavos – Kavos is the party capital of Corfu, if you’re looking for a young and lively, sleep all day, drink all night, do what you want, no holds barred holiday then pack your case and get yourself there! Quick!
Agios Georgios (south) – If you’re looking for a quiet, traditional, relaxing resort with a laidback ambiance then you’ve reached your perfect destination. This beautiful resort lies on the southwest coast and boasts a superb beach with local tavernas and nearby bars. You can relax with a good book in hand and not have to worry about being stumbled upon by passing lager louts.
Rhodes – The most popular resorts which tend to come up on late deal offers are;
Ixia – Although a very quiet and secluded resort, Ixia has you falling in love instantly with its warm charms and traditional Greek feel. A short walk will bring you to a pebble beach where you can relax with the beautiful breeze quickly cooling you down. Home to some traditional restaurants serving fine food and showing off their traditional plate smashing. A short taxi ride will bring you into Rhodes Town where you can sample the vibrant nightlife and many sophisticated cocktail bars on offer.
Lindos – Breathtakingly beautiful! A stunning, traditional resort standing at the foot of the astonishing Acropolis. Lindos has a charming sandy beach, where you could laze all day. White washed buildings encompass the winding streets where tavernas and shops appear hidden. Why late deals for this resort crop up so often, I don’t know, but my motto is don’t ask! This resort will leave you wanting more and you’ll find it hard tearing yourself away when it’s time to leave.
Faliraki – If tequila slammers, shots, cocktails, buy one get one free offers and not greeting your bed until at least 7am every morning isn’t your thing, then avoid Faliraki at all costs!
Zante – There are numerous resorts on this beautiful island. Lots of late offers usually include;
Tsilivi – Set amongst traditional olive groves and vineyards, this beautiful resort boasts a stunning golden beach with plenty of family friendly tavernas to keep everyone happy. You’ll find an array of bars and restaurants serving fresh food, however, if it’s nightclubs and wild parties you’re looking for, you’ve come to the wrong resort.
Laganas – Pretty much the Falaraki and Kavos of Zante. Late nights filled with partying and drinking and days filled with…..sleeping!
If you bag yourself one of these late deals to Greece then you’ve done very well, you’ll have a fantastic holiday and will be able to brag to your friends and family of the brilliant deal you found.
If by any chance you spot a late deal to the likes of Mykonos, Santorini or Kefalonia, then get out your credit card and hit the confirm button asap! They don’t come about often, but when they do, consider it a treat and don’t delay, get it booked.
