Karaoke Atlantic City

Where are the best places to go in Atlantic City?

Friends and I are going over the summer and none of us have ever been. We’re all in our mid-thirties, so we don’t want to be hanging out with the just-turned-21 crowd, but we don’t want to be with the senior citizens either.

Can someone recommend some good clubs, bars, restaurants, casinos, etc that aren’t too far from the boardwalk? We’re looking for places to go dancing, to gamble, to hang out and get some drinks, maybe even a little karaoke. Any suggestions?

Also, can anyone recommend any restaurants that are nice, but not super expensive?

Thanks.

For the most part, the senior citizens are only in the casinos during the day (as most of them come down on the bus for the day). And they tend to play slots. So if you play table games, it’s not really a problem.

If you’re looking to stay away from the 20-somethings, I’d avoid The Borgata and Harrah’s. The Borgata is the newest casino and has the most clubs. Harrah’s has the club at the pool after hours.

I’d look at Showboat with The House of Blues. There’s The Pier at Caesars which the third floor is nothing but restaurants. There’s Dusk at Caesar’s (only opened last year, so don’t know much about it).

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida

$4.42

Iron Butterfly’s 1968 album veritably defined the burgeoning genre of hard-rock, primarily by way of its utterly over-the-top title cut. Reportedly composed by keyboardist/lead singer Doug Ingle in such a stoned-out, numb-tongued condition that he couldn’t properly pronounce its intended title–”In the Garden of Eden”–the track seemed almost a parody of every excessive inclination of psychedelia…

Amazing Grace: The Complete Recordings

Amazing Grace: The Complete Recordings

$11.99

This Rhino re-release of Amazing Grace is at least as much a work of love as of marketing. The sound is beefier and clearer, but most importantly, the two-day church sessions are included. So, there’s much more church (specifically, Reverend James Cleveland’s marvelous orating) on the record, as well as contemporaryisms such as a cool organ rendition of George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord.” Originall…

King of the Blues Guitar

King of the Blues Guitar

$3.99

These 17 tunes come from King’s most fertile period, his 1966-68 tenure at Memphis’s Stax Records. Stax chief Jim Stewart had been reluctant to sign blues artists because he felt straight blues wouldn’t mesh with Stax’s patented Memphis soul. Ironically, the fusion of King’s sharp guitar wails with the dynamic rhythms of Booker T. & the MGs–the Stax house band–was what set King apart from other …
