Basic karaoke setup on laptop?

Hi,
I am wanting to set up a basic karaoke system using my laptop.
With all my research :) I came to conclusion that I need following for a laptop karaoke setup.
A laptop
An external sound card – Behringer U Control UCA202 USB Audio Interface
A mixer – Behringer 502 5-Input Mixer
A Microphone
A speaker.

Again I just want a basic karaoke setup for my home use. Doesn’t want anything fancy.
If these are all the equipments required how do I go about setting it up. Also, I don’t know if I need to get an amplifier as well or just the mixer and external sound card would do it for me.

Looking for all the help from you experts.

Basically you will need two types of software. One for ripping the songs from your karaoke CDG discs to a compressed (MP3+G) format and another “hosting” application for organizing and playing the song files with features like digital key control.

Also, your computer will need to have the extended desktop feature with s-video out (most modern computers do) that will allow you to display the workstation on the computer while displaying the karaoke on another TV or monitor.

I would recommend a combination of Power CD+G Burner (for ripping the discs) and JustKaraoke as the hosting application. Both of these are very user friendly and do a fantastic job.

There is no need for an external sound card. The one built into your laptop will work just fine. You will connect from the earphone jack of the laptop to the mixer with an adapter cable.

If you use the mixer you mentioned you will also need an amplifier. I suggest that you opt for a powered mixer like the Behringer PMP2000 for example.

Make sure to use PA speakers as opposed to home stereo speakers.
