Sia’s Unveils Quirky Fifth Album
There’s no doubt that Sia Furler, one of Australia’s most underrated musical talents, is a bit weird. You only need to look at some of the music videos for her songs to see that the singer has a style that is, to put it lightly, unusual.
However, it is precisely Sia’s sense of peculiar style, coupled with her catchy pop tunes, thoughtful lyrics and soulful slow songs that makes her so appealing to so many listeners. From the melancholic piano melodies of well known song ‘Breathe Me’ to the spunkier sounds of her latest single ‘Clap Your Hands’, there’s no mistaking that Sia has a full range of styles at her fingertips and isn’t afraid to experiment.
It was during 2008 that Sia truly got a taste of fame when her album Some People Have Real Problems shot her into the public eye and, in 2009, the singer was nominated for the Best Breakthrough Artist Album award at that year’s Aria Awards. Since then, she has gone from strength to strength recording new material and working with fellow singers such as Christina Aguilera, with whom she has penned several songs to be released on Aguilera’s upcoming album this summer.
Sia is known for her work with electronic band Zero 7 though she stopped recording with the group in order to focus on her solo career. Her iconic hit ‘Breathe Me’ has been snapped up by many television shows, films and adverts for use in their soundtracks and some her music, if not quite yet her name, is becoming something of a household regular.
Now Sia has unveiled a few tracks from her upcoming CD ‘We Are Born’ which have, so far, met with a very positive response. The album will be released on CD and for download on June 7 to coincide with the end of her global tour taking place this spring.
Tracks on her website include the first single ‘Clap Your Hands’ as well as the previously-leaked ‘You’ve Changed’ which is noted for its entertaining music video where Sia makes a wealth of pop culture references to computer games, karaoke, internet slang phrases and smilies and plenty of other things that warrant at least a few viewings before you catch every single reference.
The Australian singer’s new album will be released on CD in shops and will also be available online as mp3 music which you can download at your convenience.
