Question for Japanese teenagers?
We are doing a project at the university about what teenagers do in their free time and i’m covering Japan. I’ll mention karaoke, cosplay, manga, anime, video games and famous brands. What else should i mention?Does it seem like a superficial list of activities? It’ll be displayed in highschools so it wont ve very detailed.
of course i know its generalizing but it has to be max 1000 words so i cant list all the activities..the ones i picked seemed popular in the articles i read but afterall i’m an outsider and you know better, thats why i’m asking this question here.
Your list is ok except cosplay, it is not common. It looks common to see a large number of people gathering at a cosplay site, but actually it is not common.
If it is about telling interesting things of Japan, then cosplay would be ok.
Many of teenagers belong to sports clubs, or cultural clubs as brass bands, for example, at school. So they go to school on weekends for practice.
They go shopping with friends and they may just visit each other’s house, or just hang around.
You should not forget about “studying”. They need to do extra studying at home for the exam. Some of them go to Juku or cram school after school.
